Barbara Boggs Sigmund Park

The park was first developed and dedicated on May 29, 1991 in honor of the then recently deceased Barbara Boggs Sigmund, the first female mayor of Princeton Boro.

In fall 2020, a group of local volunteers did a preliminary cleanup of the park with approval of the town arborist, Taylor Sapudar. Given the park’s location on Hamilton Street (a busy roadway in downtown Princeton adjacent to the BBS playground), we felt it would be a good opportunity to feature the Master Gardener program and its educational offerings. Thus a joint venture with the town was forged.

In early 2021 we developed a removal/replanting plan utilizing the skills and resources of the MG’s, local residents and town personnel to revitalize the park. The rededication ceremony was held 30 years later to the day, on May 29, 2021.  Attendees included Princeton Mayor Mark Freda, Councilwoman Michelle Lambros, Mercer County Commissioner Andrew Koontz, MG volunteers and local residents.
